The Women's Development Bank Federation (WDBF) is a national network of 1,200 savings and credit groups in 450 rural and urban communities, who have developed local financial systems for livelihood opportunities and emergency consumption. Since the tsunami, the WDBF has been supporting communities in Morotwa to reconstruct houses for affected families in Usavivatta, Dandeniya watta and Aleviwatta. The WDBF has successfully negotiated for collective housing loans from financial institutions. Janarukula, which means "people working together," supports the WDBF.
